সাধারনত A, An এবংTheকেarticle বাপদশ্রিতনির্দেশকবলাহয়।A, An, Theকে determinerও বলাহয়।

Article কেদুইভাগেভাগকরাযায়।

1.     Indefinite article

2.     Definite article

 

Indefinite Article: A ও An দ্বারাযখনকোনঅনির্দিষ্টব্যাক্তিবাবস্তুনির্দেশিতহয়তখনতাকে indefinite Article  বলে। যেমন-

Ø I see a bird flying in the sky.

Ø He is an honest man.

 

Definite Article: The দ্বারাযখনকোননির্দিষ্টব্যাক্তিবাবস্তুনির্দেশিতহয়তখনতাকে definite Article  বলে। যেমন-

Ø The man is gentle.

Ø The paper of this book is costly.

 

v Use of indefinite Article  “A” :

1.     Consonant দিয়েশুরুহয়এমনশব্দেরপুর্বেঅনির্দিষ্টতাবুঝাতে indefinite Article A ব্যাবহৃতহয়। যেমন-

Ø This is a dog.

Ø It is a picture.

2.     সংখ্যা ও পরিমানবাচকশব্দেরপুর্বে indefinite Article A ব্যাবহৃতহয়। যেমন-

Ø Hafij bought a dozen banana.

Ø A million people protested against this system.

3.     পেশাবাব্যাবসাবুঝাতে indefinite Article A ব্যাবহৃতহয়। যেমন-

Ø She is a nurse.

Ø You are a physician.

4.     What দিয়েশুরুকোন exclamatory sentence এ what এরপরে indefinite Article A ব্যাবহৃতহয়। যেমন-

Ø What a beautiful picture it is!

Ø What a cleaver boy he is!

 

v Use of indefinite Article “An”:

ü Vowel দিয়েশুরুকোনশব্দেরপুর্বে Indefinite Article An বসে। যেমন-

Ø She took an Apple.

Ø He carried an umbrella.

Consonant  হওয়াসত্তেও“An”	Vowel  হওয়াসত্তেও“A”
যেসকলশব্দ consonant দিয়েগঠিতহওয়ারপর ও  vowel sound করেতারপুর্বে  An বসে।	Vowel sound u থাকারপরওযখনআএরপরিবর্তেইউএরমতউচ্চারিতহয়তখনতারপুর্বে  A  বসে।

v Use of difinte Article “The”:

1.     নির্দিষ্টকোনব্যাক্তিবাবস্তুবুঝাতে  definite Article হিসেবে the  বসে।যেমন-

Ø The man is gentle.

Ø The paper of this book is costly.

Ø The man standing in front of you is a physician.

Ø The water of this pond is dirty.

2.     সমগ্রশ্রেনীবাজাতীকেবুঝালে  singular common noun  এরপুর্বে  the বসে।

Ø The cow is domestic animal.

Ø The English is are brave.

3.     Proper noun  এরআগেসাধারনত Article  বসেনাকিন্তুযাপৃথিবিতেএকটিমাত্রআছেতারপুর্বে  the  বসে। যেমন-

Ø The titanic was unsinkable but unfortunately it sank.

Ø The Himalayas is very beautiful.

Ø I never see the Sahara desert.

4.     প্রকৃতিতেযাএকটিমাত্রআছেতারপুর্বে  the  বসে। যেমন-

Ø Do you see the sky?

Ø The earth moves around the sun.

5.     দুইবাঅধিকশব্দদিয়েগঠিতদেশেরনামেরপুর্বে the  বসে।যেমন-

Ø He visited the USA last year.

Ø The UAE is very beautiful.

 

 

6.     Adjective এর   superlative degree এরপুর্বে the  বসে। যেমন-

Ø Dhaka is the largest city in Bangladesh.

Ø Rakib is the best student in our class.

Ø Kazinazrulislam is one of the greatest poet in our country.

7.     Adjective দ্বারাসমাজেরকোনবিশেষস্রেনীবাগোষ্ঠীনির্দেশিতহলেতারপুর্বে  theবসে। যেমন –

Ø The poor are hated by the rich.

Ø The brave come out successfully.

8.     Of   preposition দিয়েদুইটি nounকেসংযুক্তকরলেপ্রথমটিরপুর্বে the  বসে।যেমন –

Ø The land of our country is pure more than gold.

9.     নির্দিষ্টভাবেবুঝালেmaterial কিংবা abstract noun  এরপুর্বে  the বসে । যেমন –

Ø The kindness of Mohsin is known to all.

Ø The gold of this ring is pure.

 

v Omission of Article  অথবাযেসবক্ষেত্রে Article ব্যাবহৃতহয়না (Ö বসে)।

1.     Uncountable noun  এরপুর্বেসাধারনত Article বসেনা। যেমন-

Ø I am fond of --×--tea.

Ø She like—×--milk.

2.     Proper noun এরপুর্বেসাধারনত article বসেনা।

Ø --×---Bangladesh is rich in natural gas.

Ø She lives in --×--dhaka.

3.     Material noun  এরপুর্বেসাধারনত  Article  বসেনা।

Ø -×--Iron is useful metal.

Ø --×-Gold is an expensive metal.

4.     Abstract noun  এরপুর্বেসাধারনত  Article  বসেনা।

Ø ---×---Honesty is the best policy.

Ø ---×--Forgiveness is a great virtue.

5.     Possessive pronoun এরআগেপরেকোন Article  বসেনা।

Ø We should respect--×--our---teachers.

Ø Mothers are always caring to --×--her--×-- children.

6.     Preposition এরপুর্বেকোন Article বসেনা।

Ø He is -×--on the chair.

Ø I don’t know -×--about you.

7.     Adjective এবংnoun  এরমাঝেকোনArticle বসেনা। যেমন –

Ø He is an intelligent--×-- boy.

8.     Be verb  এবং adjective  এরমাঝেকোন  Article বসেনাকিন্তু  be verb এবং  adjective  এরপরেযদি noun থাকেতাহলে  adjective  এরপুর্বে  Article  বসে।যেমন-

Ø He is --×--good.

Ø He is a good student.

9.     দুইটি noun  এর ,মাঝেকোন Article  বসেনা। যেমন-

Ø He is a university --×--student.

Ø I like train--×- journey.
