1.      Was born (জন্মেছিলো)

ð  কোনোস্থানে/সালেজন্মগ্রহণকরাবোঝাতে।

★যেমন

Nazrulwas bornin a poor family."

He was born in 1899.

2.      Have to/ has to/ had to

অর্থ:- (অবশ্যই)

ð  কোনোকিছুকরারজন্যবাধ্যবাধকতাবোঝানোরক্ষেত্রে।

ü  Sub+ have to / has to/ had to+ verb1

★যেমন:

He has tofollow the rules of health.

I have to/ had to go to Square Hospitals to see my friend

 

3.      Would rather (বরংভালো)

ð  তুলনাবোঝাতে।পরেসবসময় than বসে।

★যেমন:I would ratherstarve than beg.

 

 

 

4.      Had better (উপদেশবোঝায়)

ð  উপদেশবাপরামর্শবোঝাতে।

★যেমন:

It may rain today.Youhad betterstay at home.

 

5.      Used to (অভ্যাসছিলো. (অতীতঅভ্যাস)

ü  SubUsed to +v1

★যেমন:

" Iused toplay cricket in the afternoon "

 

6.      Let alone (নিশ্চতপারবেনাহ)

ð  ভাবাইযায়নাএমনকিছুবোঝাতে।

★যেমন:

Ø  Kaberi has never made coffees let alone mutton chop.

Ø  He cannot buy a cycle let alone a car.

Ø  She cannot write a short story let alone a complete poem.

সেএকটিছোটগল্প ই লিখতেপারেনাএকটিসম্পুর্নকবিতালেখারপ্রশ্নইআসেনা ।

 

7.      Would you mind (আপনি কিছু মনে করবেন)

ð  ভদ্রাতারসাথেকাউকেকিছুকরতেবলা।

ü  Would you mind+verb1+ing+ ext+?

 

★যেমন:

Ø  Would you mindclosing the door?

দরজাটাএকটুবন্ধকরেদিবেন? / কিছুমনেনাকরলেদরজাটিএকটুবন্ধকরেদিবেন?

 

8.      As soon as

(যখন..... তখন/ যতশীঘ্রসম্ভব/ হতেনাহতেই)

ü  As sooon as +sub + v1+ext, 2^nd clause এর sub+ v1.

ü  As sooon as +sub + v2+ext, 2^nd clause এর sub+ v2.

★যেমন:

Ø  He starts reading, as soon as his father comes home.

তারবাবাবাড়িআসতেনাআসতেইসেপড়াশুরুকরে।

Ø  As soon as reached the school, the bell rang"

আমরাস্কুলেপৌঁছাতেনাপৌঁছাতেইশেষঘন্টাবেজেউঠল।

Ø  As soon asthey went out, it started to rain"

 

9.      No sooner had/ Scarcely had/ Hardly had (হতেনাহতেই / করতেনাকরতেই)

ü  No sooner had+sub+v3+ext+ than + 2^nd clause এর sub+ v2+ext

ü  Scarcely had +sub+v3+ext+ when + 2^nd clause এর sub+ v2+ext

ü  Hardly had+sub+v3+ext+ when/before + 2^nd clause এর sub+ v2+ext

★যেমন:

Ø  No sooner had the thief seen the police than he ran away.

চোরটিপুলিশকেদেখতেনাদেখতেইদৌরদিল।

Ø  Hardly had the baby seen its mother when it started crying.

শিশুটিতারমাকেদেখতেনাদেখতেইকান্নাশুরুকরেদিল।

 

10.  As if/ as though (এমনভাবেযেন)

ü  Sub+v1+as if/as though+ sub+v2

ü  Sub+v2+ as if/as though+ sub+ had +v3

 

★যেমন:

Ø  He speaks as if he were a mad.

সেএমনভাবেকথাবলেযেনমনেহয়সেপাগল।

Ø  He pretended as if he had finished all task.

সেএমনভানকরলযেনমনেহয়সেসমস্তকাজশেষকরেফেলেছে

Ø  He talks as if/ as though.he knew everything.

 

11.  It is time/ It is high time/ It is proper time.

ð  এখনইউপযুক্তসময়বাএখনইনাকরলেনয়এমনবোঝাতেব্যবহৃতহয়।

ü  It is time/high time+sub+ verb 2 + ext.

ü  It is time/high time+to+ verb1+ ext.

 

★যেমন:

Ø  It is high timethey took a proper steps for making their village habitable.

Ø  It is time to protect yourself.

 

12.  What if ( কীহবে/ কেমনহয়/ কীহত)

★যেমন:

" What ifBangladesh becomes Singapore in coming decade? It will be a miracle.

 

13.  What's it like

ð  কোনোবিষয়/ ব্যক্তি/ বস্তুসম্পর্কেস্বাভাবিকধারনারজন্য।

ü  What’s it like +verb1+ing+ ext+?

What's it like visiting this place in the coming summer vacation? I have never visited Kuakata.

আসন্নগ্রীষ্মেরছুটিতেএইজায়গাটিঘুরেদেখতেকেমনলাগছে? আমিকখনোকুয়াকাটাযাইনি।

 

14.  What does........ look like

ð  উচ্চতা, গতি, আকার, বৈশিষ্ট্যইত্যাদিবোঝানোরজন্য।এটিতেদুইটিশূন্যস্থানথাকে,তাইকোথায়ব্যবহারহবেবোঝাসহজ

★যেমন:

" Whatdoesthe hero of the film look like?

 

15.  As long as

ð  যতক্ষনধরে/ যতক্ষনযাবত।

Ø  We shall wait here as long asthe rain stops"

 

16.  In case (যদি)

"He will not come in casethe wether is bad"

ð  এগুলোসাধারনতবাক্যেরশুরুতেইবসে।দেখলেইব্যবহারবোঝাযায়।
